Après Beach at The Beach, La Reserva: Sotogrande's Lagoon Sunset

Sotogrande's most unusual beach club doesn't sit on the beach. The Beach is inside La Reserva Club, inland, and its 'sea' is a man-made lagoon. In summer it's also home to one of the town's best sunset plans: Après Beach, Friday deep house sessions. Here's what it is and how to approach it.

The place: a lagoon with a sandy bottom

In its April 2021 beach club round-up, sotogrande.com described the club's man-made lagoon as having a full sandy bottom, with a sports lagoon and an adult pool, surrounded by sun loungers. Its current page talks about Chiringa, a beach-bar style spot on the sand, and Ancala, the main restaurant, which serves Andalusian food with Nikkei touches and Josper-smoked dishes. There's also a sommelier-chosen wine list and breakfast at weekends from 10:00 to 12:00. Sandbeds placed The Beach second in its 2026 ranking of Sotogrande beach clubs.

Après Beach: what and when

Après Beach is a Friday sunset session. sotogrande.com's Summer 2026 agenda billed it as deep house with DJ Hondo, and El Periódico de Sotogrande described it as live music, tardeo and cocktails in a setting it called paradise. The 2026 dates:

That's two sessions a month across the summer. The 2027 dates haven't been announced; if the pattern repeats, they'll show up in the summer agenda in late spring, and we'll add them here.

How it fits into a Friday

Après Beach is a golden-hour plan, not a late one. Arrive for the last of the light, stay for dinner at Ancala, and if you want to keep going, Ágora is the nightclub in Sotogrande on its event nights. Because La Reserva is inland, you'll need a car or a taxi; plan the ride home before the cocktails start.

After the summer: Entre Granos

When Après Beach finishes for the year, The Beach switches to a slower autumn mode. Its own page announced Entre Granos from 15 September, Wednesday to Sunday: seasonal starters, five rice dishes made to order and a homemade dessert, all for sharing over a long lunch. From 30 September every booking also came with a free sunbed at The Pool. It's a daytime plan, but it's one of the few beach-club-style options in Sotogrande once the season ends.

Other sunset plans nearby

If Après Beach isn't on that Friday, the alternatives with music at sunset are on the coast at Torreguadiaro. Chambao has DJs in the afternoon and live music at night, and Bahía Limón has live music at sunset at weekends as part of its summer programme. Both are right next to the port of Sotogrande, a short drive from La Reserva.

What we don't know (and how to check)

La Reserva is a residential club, and the venue's own pages we checked don't spell out whether non-members can come to Après Beach or on what terms. Prices aren't published either; Sandbeds rates The Beach €€€€ relative to other beach clubs, and says 'beach chic' is the expected look. Busy months

Sandbeds says July and August are the busiest months for Sotogrande's beach clubs, because they coincide with the polo tournaments, and recommends booking The Beach at weekends and in high season. The June Après Beach dates are the quieter way in.
