Trocadero Sotogrande from Day to Night: What to Expect
Trocadero is the name most people think of when they hear 'beach club' and 'Sotogrande' in the same sentence. Sandbeds put it first in its 2026 ranking of the area's beach clubs. But it's worth being clear about what it is before you go: a beach club and restaurant that closes at midnight, not a nightclub. Here's how a day there actually unfolds.
From El Cucurucho to Trocadero
For about 30 years this spot on Paseo del Parque was El Cucurucho, named after the pale blue inverted cone on the building ('cucurucho' is Spanish for an ice-cream cone). It was refurbished and renamed Trocadero for the 2015 season, and the cone is still there, which is why older regulars still use both names. It belongs to Grupo Trocadero.
The day: pools, hammocks, two kitchens
Trocadero is open Thursday to Monday, 11:00 to midnight, and closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; the kitchen serves from 13:00 to 23:00. Its own page lists a Mediterranean restaurant and an Asian one (Thai and Japanese, summer only), a sushi bar, a cocktail bar, hammocks and pools; andalucia.com counts two pools. There's also a family zone with its own phone line, so lunchtimes are mixed and you will see children around. If that's not your scene, arrive later.

When the music starts
DJ sessions are on the list of what Trocadero offers. Sandbeds describes the music as ambient, with occasional parties in August, which matches what you'll find most days: a soundtrack for the afternoon and sunset rather than a dance floor. The good stretch is late afternoon into dinner. Because everything closes at midnight, a classic Sotogrande summer night goes Trocadero for sunset and dinner, then on to Ágora, the town's nightclub, which runs until the early hours on its event nights.
August: Enclave de Sol
The one time Trocadero becomes a proper night-time venue is its August festival. Enclave de Sol is the rebranded Trocadero flamenco festival, which began in 2021. In 2026 it ran on 7, 8, 13, 14 and 21 August with Luna Gitana, La Cuarta Cuerda & Los Alpresa, Siempre Así, Malmö 040 and Soto & Family; doors at 20:00, shows at 22:00 or 22:30. Tickets ranged from €45 standing at the back to €200 per person at front tables of four, with VIP 'Chozo' boxes as the top tier.
How to plan the day
- From 13:00: the kitchen opens. Lunch is the busiest, most family-heavy part of the day.
- Afternoon: pools and hammocks. This is where the DJ sessions come in, as background rather than a party.
- Sunset: the best moment for a cocktail at the bar facing the beach.
- Before 23:00: last orders from the kitchen if you're staying for dinner.
- Midnight: closing time. If the night's not over, Ágora is the nightclub in Sotogrande on its event nights.
Trocadero compared with the rest
In Sandbeds' 2026 ranking Trocadero comes first, ahead of The Beach at La Reserva Club and MARXA at the SO/ hotel; all three are rated at the top price level (€€€€) and Sandbeds says a 'beach chic' look is expected at all of them. Trocadero is also the one Sandbeds describes as open for much of the year. For music after dark, though, the same guide points to Torreguadiaro: Bahía Limón for live music and Chambao for a DJ at sunset. So if you want the polished beach club day, Trocadero; if you want the music to keep going after dinner, head down the coast.
Good to know
- Address: Paseo del Parque s/n, 11310 San Roque (Cádiz). There's a car park.
- Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays; check before planning a midweek visit.
- Groups of more than seven: the venue asks you to phone rather than book online.
- Dress: no published code, but Sandbeds says 'beach chic' is expected.
